Default Burglar killed by dad after attempted robbery

oh my god the most shocking thing here is this is like super close to me (and technologic ;l) n it's everywhere... don't see why he's being arrested on suspicion for murder at all. what was he meant to do? stand there n wait for himself to get robbed?! at times like this they need to seriously sort the rules out .

THE burglar stabbed to death during a house raid was trying to steal the home owner's Rolex watch and £50,000 cash, police believe.

Career criminal Raymond Jacob, 37, and an accomplice went to the home of courier firm boss Vincent Cooke allegedly pretending to be on "official business".

When Mr Cooke, 39, opened the door of his £350,000 home, the two raiders are said to have forced their way in before allegedly demanding he hand over his designer watch and lead them to a safe. Police believe Mr Cooke's home was targeted after someone told the suspects he had at least £50,000 cash in the house.

The pair allegedly dragged Mr Cooke around the property and were in a bedroom when his wife Karen, 34, arrived home with the couple's 12-year-old son Anthony.Mr Cooke yelled "Get out, get out" at his wife, who ran to a neighbour's house and dialled 999.

The brave dad then tried to fight off the men and Jacob was stabbed six times in the arms and legs after a huge struggle broke out in the kitchen. It is thought he bled to death after being stabbed in the thigh. The other man fled.

Detectives believe Mr Cooke may have grabbed a knife from the kitchen. But at least one of the raiders is said to have had a blade, and police are still trying to work out exactly what happened. Officers seized several knives at the scene in upmarket Bramhall, Cheshire, and Mr Cooke was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was released on bail yesterday and spent the day recovering from his ordeal with his family.

Great news, what less scum bag off the street.

I think it is quite simply ridiculous people get done for murder after protecting what is rightly theirs. About time we stood up for them, instead of punishing them - the thieving scum are better off gone anyway as far as I am concerned.

I don't support the idea that if somebody is in your property, you can stick thumbscrews into them - this case however from what I can gather is perfectly reasonable, there's good grounds to say that the lives of the family members were at stake and this is clear-cut self-defence.

But what our weak, left-wing judical system decides on is another matter.

Even in cases of self-defence it's normal to be arrested on suspicion of murder. He hasn't been charged at this stage and I would put money on him being released soon without charge. I'd be quite worried if the police turned up at the scene of the murder and didn't arrest the murderer because he claimed self-defence. Now he's been arrested, it can be properly established what happened and he'll most likely be released.

The police know that in recent years, even if he was charged, it wouldn't stand up in court seeing as in this case he used "reasonable force" to defend his property (which is allowed by law).

    For instance; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...er-charge.html

pretty much this. i don't tend to agree with the self-defence argument when the thief is left for dead the homeowner appears to be fine, but since both men were stabbed, an obvious fight ensued. he'll get off on the charges.

You should be able to defend your home from intruders, not being arrested for keeping you're home safe!

    It's an absolute disgrace!

If he goes down for anything related to this. I quit as a Forum Moderator. Just to show my sheer disappointment in the judicial system.

This is freaky because the topic of this came up in law today in school. I think someone mentioned that as long as they don't go upstairs, you don't have the right to do any sort of harm to them, or something weird like that.

Anyway, hope the guy doesn't get jail time for this, that would be weird.

But kids, remember, baseball bats FTW.
