Default Sims 3: Pets Game Review

On the day of release I bought Sims 3: Pets for my girlfriend.
After watching her play it these past few days this is my review.

    Console: PS3
Looking back, Sims 3 was a simple game like many of the other Sims games. Sure it had new skills and a few extras but was it really worth the money spent?
I find myself asking the same thing with Sims 3: Pets.

The appeal of the game is that you can get Pets, in some circumstances, give them jobs (e.g. Police Dog), but there's a few typical problems when it comes to who is entitled to what on which console.

On console versions (Xbox 360/PS3) most people assumed you could get all of the Pets offered. (Dogs, Cats, Horses) but this is UNTRUE.
The PC version is the only one that gets Horses.
They have replaced Horses on consoles with the ability to use the Invention Skill to build a Sim Bot. For more information check out the link below.
    http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Sim_Bot
The Sim Bot is unavailable on the PC.

Some of you who have played Sims 3 before, know of the glitches it can have. Already on Sims 3: Pets my girlfriend and I have seen a few funny ones while I shall post pictures of below.

While cooking, just before the chopping board appeared, the cat jumped on the counter. Now it looks as if we are cooking the cat. Just before the picture being taken, the Sim actually poured milk on the cat

In this one the Sim was doing some Inventing, and got set on fire. The fireman had actually finished putting the fire out, but the Sim stayed bent over and the fireman started spraying again. This looks pure dirty LOL!

All in all I think this is an alright game but I don't see much difference other than a few pets.
Which I forgot to mention has quite a few options when it comes to creating different breeds of Dogs and Cats. So you should be able to get the breed you like.
For me and my girlfriend, we choose Husky dogs over anything.

    What would you choose?

The Sims 3 is an awful game, however the pc version is clearly superior.

The Sim Bot is available in Ambitions, which has been out for about 6 months now

The Sims 3 is a damn awful game and will never be as good as The Sims 2. The only main benefit is the open neighbourhood, but for that gameplay was sacrificed, like going to a restaurant or going shopping. It's a good idea the open neighbourhood, but it would of only worked well if there were interesting places to see in an open neighbourhood, and because they took away the restaurant and shopping functionalities, you are left with an empty looking game. Whoever invented rabbit holes needs to be shot for it!

As for EA, well they don't know anything about customer services or bug reporting and fixing, the games are pretty messed up when you look into functionality. The car bug is a very serious one, where NPCs spawn cars to drive around places, then park the cars in a parking bay and then spawn another car to move along. That bug causes quite a lot of load on the machine, causing an increase in lag.

That said, I've got Pets for the PC and plan on trying it out when I get back to the desktop

I blame the lack of Will Wright for why it's so bad

Me too, you can see when he left during the end of The Sims 2. Without Will Wright, I would say the most successful game EA did on their own was The Sims 2 Apartment Life. After that it was down hill, fast

The Sims 3 lacks passion, and it is owned by a company who have no idea what they are doing anymore.

I just laughed when my girlfriends cat ran away. I think thats the most fun you can have on it. Seems a waste, sims used to be such a good franchise.

Does she not have the problem with disfigurement and her pets? Apparently that's one huge problem they have at the moment - the other is giving everyone the the limited edition pet store because they've hired baboons to run up their tech division
