ermmm phoning social fund and lying to them about your mum being in hospital and you having no money for gas and food & saying your sister needs money for college? cause my mum seems to think it's not. & do you think it would be best to tell the police, the job centre or call someone else? do you think i could do it through here: http://campaigns.dwp.gov.uk/campaign...efit-theft.asp

    It is fraud, yeah.
To lie to the government for social funding is de-frauding them and because it's a social payment it's taken pretty harshly. With a relatively clean record you'd get about 100 Hrs community service for this.

if you were to report it, it would be... 0800 854 440 for DWP thieves line.

Might I add why you want to report it though? Is this your mum or family you're talking of?

it is fraud, yeah but i would be careful about doing it cause it's a massive penalty if yr caught and even if you only merely like the person i would advise you tell them to stop.

    its my brother

i told the job centre n we filled out an online form. got a text from my auntie saying that it was immature of me and i don't understand the situation, not sure what there is to understand other than my brother is trying to get money, using me as an excuse and even making up that my mum is in hospital. as usual though it is my fault and he is picked over me. woops i ruined my life trying to get him done :/

Not allowed to lie to the government or they'll come down heavily on you.

Of course it doesn't work the other way around, but hey.

Why is it you want to report your brother? Obviously it's the right thing to do, but I would never ever call the fraud squad if someone in my family (or a close friends family for that matter) was fraudulently gaining from the state - even if it is only because, at the moment, I am not too pleased with our "government" and how they are "running" the country... Or am I totally misunderstanding you, Jen?

Wouldn't blame a lot of people in this society, but I'd report it to be honest seeing as I don't enjoy seeing people thrive and abuse our tax.

resolved it how? n i don't think my situation living with him could have been worse than it already was... not only is he already in court for beating up a 16 year old girl he had just been accused of grabbing the ass of a 12 year old and then he threatened to kill another 12 year old.. then he starts trying to use me as an excuse to get money, dont think so.. i got my own back for a change
