    Default "Happy Holidays"?

There's been a lot of outrage, if you like, recently when people regard Christmas as the Holiday Season and instead of Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays is becoming more of the "done" thing.

I'm just looking for your opinions basically. Are you offended by the "politically correct" way of wishing somebody a merry old time around December? Do you not really mind?

Just to add, the reason people are using "Happy Holidays" and "Merry Xmas" is because we have to be "welcoming" to those who are not originally from this country and have to be equal to all.

    Thanks guys

I use Merry Christmas because being British, I live in the United Kingdom which is a protestant christian country (despite the wishes of the cultural revolutionaries who push political correctness) which in turn means Christmas is important to the people of this nation. We can beat political correctness if we just ignore it and activity go against it, even if its small things such as saying 'Merry Christmas' instead of 'Happy Winterval' etc.

A very Merry Christmas to all.

Happy Holidays is the more generic term for the US isn't it?

I still say 'Merry Christmas' (rarely...) , I don't think there's that much 'drama' over what you should be saying. All are fine imo.

I'm from the US, and they are starting to completely change things the way it used to be.. We can't say Merry Christmas anymore because it's not "Politically correct" But i still say it because its what i grew up with. I heard they're starting to change the name From Christmas Tree to Holiday Tree or Family tree so its politically correct. It's just... wrong in my opinion. It's not a huge deal, but theres no reason why you should rename a xmas tree a holiday tree or snap at people when you're being nice by saying Merry Christmas.

I don't really see that many people here in the UK saying Happy Holidays nor would saying 'Merry Christmas' be regarded as not being politically correct. Must people are accepting that they live in the UK and need to follow the culture of this country.

Everyone gets involved in the Christmas cheer, whatever their religion quite honestly.

blurghhhh I saw loads of people raging about this on Facebook, Facebook's like gullible land. Someone put on there "The government says we have to call it happy holidays, so a MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL" ... words to that affect. I've never heard or seen anyone say Happy Holidays apart from in the US sooo.... it has and will always be merry christmas to me but i don't mind if other people say happy holidays...

I always thought Happy Holidays meant New Year and Christmas. As a sort of pair.

I've never said Happy Holidays, I think I'll always be saying Merry Christmas to be honest. I haven't heard anyone say Happy Holiday's either.
