Not sure if this has been talked about, I only just found out about it but a few days ago a systems Administrator found something strange on a phone. Basically he discovered a program that was apparently logging stuff, including key inputs, texts etc., and discovered it was evident on multiple phones with multiple operating systems. This obviously caused massive panic apparently (I was in the dark on this one) and people where obviously angry.

It turns out that experts have reverse coded the program (Carrie IQ) and found it's not transmitting anything personal, but still is transmitting stuff without peoples knowledge/consent. The data is apparently used with mobile networks to help with issues such as calls dropping out, bad signals etc.

This isn't tied down to just one phone or operating system, but it isn't actually transmitting anything sensitive. However there are apps around at the moment for detecting it (not sure about removing it)
