Default Mentors confirmed for BBC's "The Voice"

Welsh crooner Tom Jones and The Script front man Danny O'Donoghue will be joining Jessie J and Will.i.am as mentors on BBC's The Voice UK, despite Will Young being heavily rumoured to be joining the show.

Jones had been heavily linked to a role for some time, but it had been thought singer Will Young would be the fourth vocal coach on the remake of the hit US show.

The fourth spot is instead being taken by Danny O'Donoghue, lead singer of The Script, who said he was a 'massive fan' of the US version of the show.

He said of his appointment: 'I'm a massive fan of The Voice, so to be involved as a coach is amazing.

'This is a show unlike any other because it puts vocal ability first above all else. I look forward to putting my team together and battling it out with the other coaches to see who wins this unique, credible competition. I'm in it to win it!'

Welsh veteran Tom Jones said he was 'thrilled' to be taking part in the show, saying the programme was 'all about the talent'.

He said: 'I'm excited about The Voice, and thrilled to be participating as a coach. This is a strong show; it's all about talent – but it's also exciting, competitive and compelling television.

'I've been blessed over the years to share the stage with some of the world's finest artists, and I look forward to being part of the team that discovers a great, new, genuine talent.'

With the full line-up now confirmed, BBC One controller Danny Cohen praised the addition of 'rising star' O'Donoghue and 'music legend' Jones.

He said of the four vocal coaches: 'Overall, our line-up of Tom Jones, Jessie J, Will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue gives us mega-star quality, great musical range and musicians we know our audience love.'

The show is scheduled to hit our screens in March, avoiding a clash with rival singing talent show X Factor.

The programme, already a hit in the US, sees hopefuls sing for the coaches in a 'blind audition' so that they are judged solely on their vocal talent.

Coaches decide if they want to work with the act auditioning, with the artist choosing their preferred mentor if they are picked out by more than one judge.

The acts are then coached by their mentor throughout the competition, with the winner of the show named 'The Voice' and given a recording contract.

Im excited to see Jessie J
