I don't know whether this is new or not, I received a present earlier from my friend and when I opened it it burst open and shredded into tiny pieces!
I don't think this "effect" works with normal presents (presents that cost nothing). I opened a normal present but it did nothing, or maybe it's something to do with the furni that's inside? It worked so far on those gift items.
