@mention not working

When I am tagged in a post the post would usually go into the Who's Quoted Me section of my usercp but over the last few weeks some users who have [@]@mentioned[/@] me aren't showing up.

I think it is something to do with it automatically wrapping the name in tags so instead of "kyle" being mentioned it will mention "@kyle"... or maybe they are doing this manually? hmm...

I don't have the option to notify me via pm when I get quoted so I rely on that section of my usercp to see who has replied to me. help?

ye some people have said [@]@Mathew[/@] in events spam and it hasn't come thru lol.. didn't know if it was just a one off though! .

[@]@Mathew[/@] [@]@Kyle[/@] I think the problem's probably that folks are editing posts and sticking in the mentions after (edits directly after posting don't show up as edits), and they're just using [@]name[/@] expecting it to work. If this is infact the case, then the reason I hesitate to allow edits to pick up on mentions is that it would make the system crazy easy to abuse

yes i did get those mentions hmm so is there nothing that can be done about this?
