    Default Virgin Media Speed Upgrades

    Some nice news:

    Here’s some brilliant news for everyone who’s signed up to our fibre optic broadband: in one of our most ambitious projects ever, we’re going to be giving you all a speed boost!

    If you’re currently on up to 10Mb, up to 30Mb or up to 50Mb broadband, we’ll double your speed. If you’re on up to 20Mb you’ll be tripled. And for those on Broadband 100, we’ll be boosting you up to a mighty 120Mb – a new benchmark as the UK’s fastest widely available broadband.

    We want to make sure that Virgin Broadband stays the fastest in the UK, so that our customers can enjoy exciting online services like streaming HD movies and online gaming to the full.

    From February 2012, our engineers will be working up and down the country, upgrading our fibre optic network area by area. It’s a massive job that will take up to 18 months to complete.

    There’s no need to take any action for the time being. We’ll be in touch soon about when you can expect your area to be upgraded.

    Still slightly disappointed about not getting 100MB to 200MB. I hope at least that we get 20MB upload or else i'll be pissed.

    And why does this new reply box keep removing the spaces I put in between words? Is there an option to use the old one in CP?

    Change the editor option in usercp. In terms of upload speed it would be nice to have more.

    Why do you think that? I've always had excellent service with them and can't remember the last time we had any down time. When they sent us a new router and it wasn't connecting to my mum's laptop, I had a very friendly customer support fella (from England!) help me really well. Also the speeds are just as they advertise, infact a little bit more. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1700563159.png is what i'm getting and we pay for 30MB

    I cant wait for 60Mb, it's gonna be sexy :>

    Used to have 50mb I always got 50 down and about 4 up, was a very good connection. Then I moved houses, I hope fibre optic comes to SW London soon so I can get 120MB
    That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

    Never had any major problems with them and we have been with them since the days of Cable of Wireless. Any problems we do have normally get sorted pretty quick and it's quite rare we have to contact them.

    -------------------------

    (Taken from Virgin's FAQ)

    How are my speeds changing?

    Broadband Size : S (up to 2Mb) -----> Up to 5Mb
    Broadband Size : M (up to 10Mb) -----> Up to 20Mb
    Broadband Size : L (up to 10Mb) -----> Up to 20Mb
    Broadband Size : XL (up to 20Mb or 30Mb) -----> Up to 60Mb
    Broadband Size : XXL (up to 50Mb) -----> Up to 100Mb
    Broadband Size : 100 (up to 100Mb) -----> Up to 120Mb – Note these increases will start from summer 2012

    Note: Upstream speeds and traffic management fair usage amounts will be increased in proportion to the increase in downstream speed.

    I have also read that customers on the 100MB service will have some discounts made to their monthly bills, since the 100MB customers (50MB now) will be paying quite a bit less.
