    Default laptop help +rep :}

    my laptop appears to be constantly overheating and lagging out, especially when i'm listening to music or have any kind of audio on. i don't have it on my lap/soft surface (i'm not completely ******ed), i have it on a desk all the time i'm using it and as far as i'm aware all the air vents (i can see) aren't blocked.

    it has 4gb of ram which should be enough to manage spotify and msn without having issues, surely?!

    are there any straight forward/pretty cheap-ish things i can do to keep my computer cool? i used to have a lap table thing with a fan in for my smaller laptop but this is too big.

    yeah any help/ideas + rep.

    Ether buy a cool pad (Only like £10 for a cheap one) or spray some compressed air (Very Cheap) into your vents to clear dust etc, these are the only things I could think of that are cheap

    Compressed air worked a treat on one of my old laptops. It feels silly buying a can of air but it's really good..

    I had a similar problem with my old laptop. I helped the problem with a 3 fan cool pad which really helped keep the underside cool.

    So i would recommend you take a look at the different cool pads which are available.

    Was about to say compressed air and a cooling pad. I have a PC and it would constantly turn off all the time and I didn't know why - it turned out the main fan and the processor's fan where too clogged up and just need cleaned. Also make sure your fan.

    Also are your fans working. There was one time when my PC was playing up and I didn't realise that the fans had stopped just a loose connection. I don't really use laptops but there should be a fan by the processor to stop it getting to hot.

    If you find your laptop keeps lagging when it's being cooled, try defragmenting the hard disk.

    What laptop is this?

    I ask because mine did things similar to this. Then started shutting off. And just today has expired completely.
