Right,

I wanted to buy a book from Amazon and the price is about £9.00

However on the sides it says New / Used prices,

On the New Side, it's generally cheaper as one's for only £4, I'm just wondering are they as new in stock or as in sent back or something?

They're brand new.

They are brand new, it's just another company that are sponsored or something like that by amazon, so if it's under New, it will be New! They tend to be alot cheaper then Amazon itself

They are cheaper sometimes because they come straight from the publisher rather than amazon buying and selling them on. I could be wrong, but this is what I always assumed!!
