It's what has been obvious for a while but the way this program shows it makes it almost unbelievable. Everybody absolutely has to watch this, it will heavily change what you eat.

mehhh.. it's a losing battle (im only half way through this but gonna watch the rest) but like these people always say "we're being conned, they're poisoning us" etc and never give us ways on how to beat it? it's just "eat natural foods" when many of them aren't even natural and can still make you fat. they just paint a gloomy picture tbh as though we're stuck in a trap. its nice to highlight but at least give us ways out.
this sorta stuff led me to an eating disorder (orthorexia - not the desire to be skinny but to eat 'right') and i was worse off than i would have been if i just kept eating like a 'normal' person. tried to stick to natural foods and not processed, ended up getting ill and depressed. didn't enjoy food at all, so suspicious of them all. if you can't beat em, join em. not much we could really do. we're always gonna want high calorie food aren't we? so why fight it..i think if you try to eat as pure as possible and not beat yourself up when you treat yourself occasionally and exercise then you should be okay. its common sense advice and its our choice whether we eat it or not... although i get its addictive and that whole leptin thing where your brain isn't told you're full so you keep going. apparently it takes our brain 20 minutes to tell us we're no longer hungry too? eh, what can we do though? thats what i wanna know... im one of those skinny fat people who look skinny but on the outside probably arent.

Watched it on tv... nothing new really. I actually ended up relating this to the Habbo scandal when talking to my dad - people are at fault as the health risks are published everywhere, even on the wrapper/can/bottle they're holding. Not the company's fault...
...well unless they're illegally putting things in. Which they do in america, not so much here with the recent EU food laws.
Strangely enough I watched a lecture about something similar a few weeks back. It's a bit technical in some of the biochemistry but it's easy enough to follow what he's saying and it's quite interesting. It basically deals with how fructose is definitely not the same as glucose in the way the body metabolises it and that fructose is in fact a poison:

What I would like to highlight is that this isn't necessarily focusing on our health as individuals, but instead on the health of society as a whole. "Change the way you eat forever..." That's the thing though isn't it? It doesn't really. There are disgusting pictures of tar-filled lungs on cigarette packets on cigarettes and people keep smoking. Sure they're addictive so perhaps it's different but I think even if people don't understand the science they are aware that eating junk food = bad and yet they (and when I say they I do actually include myself in this because I do eat a lot of crap too) still eat it. A foreign student in my uni was shocked at the amount of crisps and chocolate I ate because in her country (Belarus), these things are savoured and a luxury item so I think it's perhaps a cultural thing where people aren't passionate about food, it's just an inconvienient necessity and so people don't care too much what they stuff into their mouths.
The irony is I'm writing this while eating a chocolate bar.
Does anyone know somewhere else I can watch this? It's not available for viewing in Ireland!
