    Default Poor people.

My heart goes out to everyone effected by Hurricane Katrina. Allready there are 55 people dead and there are more exepcted pass with them. I hope all of your family in the efected areas are ok. And I hope everyone who is still tr'ap'ed in there homes will make it to safety. Aslo I hope all 10000+ people at the SuperDome are ok aswell.

Back in 1992 my parents were were on vacation at the time in Florida for the last 2 weeks of summer, I was about 3 at the time and my parents didn't take my brothers and I. They had been warned about a Hurricane but there plane tickets weren't sceduled to leave untill the 30th and the airports were full of people trying to get to safety, so my parents decided they would be safe in there hotel room. On August 24, 1992 Andrew struck. A catagory 5 Hurricane. My parents have told stories about the ordeal. My mom said they were sleeping untill about 5:30am when her and dad woke up to the sound of crashing glass. It wasn't in there room but the one above. Then she told me that to be safe she went into the bathroom and hid in there because it didn't have any windows so they wouldn't be injured by any glass or flying stuff. She said they hid in there all day and into the night. All the windows in out room were smashed and dad went out and took the mattress off the bed so they would have a place to sleep and he also took some food and water from the mini-bar so they would have something to eat. Mom told me that they slept for a few hours untill somebody from the hotel staff came up to the room to see if they were still alive. They were fine. They hotel had hooked up a generator to the elevetor so it would operate she told me and the person took them down to this confrence room on the first floor. Mom said it was like a sceen from the Titanic there was water comming in the doors and going down to the basement where there was about 5 feet of dirty water and rising, people were crying and there was allot of confusion.
