    Default Bleaching...

Okay, so I dyed my hair red a couple months ago - totally regret it now and want to go back to a blonde color like I was before. I know it's gonna be pretty hard, if not impossible to strip the red from my hair so was going to dye it again. Looked it up on google and apparently I may have to bleach my hair first..havent done that before and so I'm a little worried..especially after seeing some friends have some very bad experiences with it...so just wondering whether anyone heres done it before..and if you thought it was worth it?

If you think bleaching is the only route - go to a hairdressers!!! Everyone I know who bleaches/bleached their own hair had horrible experiences with it. A hairdresser might even be able to avoid using such hard techniques or better quality products - it might cost a bit but it's worth it for the long-term sake of your hair!!

I bleached my hair for halloween a few years back and for a good few months after than my hair was horrible, it strips all the pigments from your hair so even after you dye your hair your hair can be really rough and horrible. Only way I got rid of the feeling was to shave my head, can't imagine you doing that so I'd suggest you take lauras advice and see a professional.

Yeah, was thinking about going to a professional for it - but asking around for that and was told it could be up to £60, which I think is such a rip off..when I could do it myself for less than a tenner.
I've got a friend whose done it a couple times and says she'd be happy to help. -- Tried the allergy test which you have to do 48 hours before dying/bleaching your hair and it seems ok..:L Gonna try plain dying it first before going anywhere near bleach though. :3

Up to, doesn't mean it WILL cost that much! Is the future of your hair not worth that much? Good luck with it and stuff

Yeah, I know. I've decided to see how the dye goes - if that doesnt work, I'm going to see a professional - at the end of the day I'm just too scared to do it. Guess the cons outweight the pros. And thanks!

just use a lightener it won't be as harsh on your hair. i've bleached my hair millions of times and have never gone hairdresser, it's always worked out fine. it's gonna go ginger whether or not you goto a hairdressers, if it just goes platinum blonde it's just going to be a lot harsher on your hair. my hair isn't in a bad condition at the moment, but that's because i know how to take care of it. it's so simple to get your hair back all soft, i sometimes leave conditioner in my hair all day and afterwards it's so lovely feeling. honestly though, lightening is always the best option to me. you can just do it in stages so it isn't so harsh on your hair.

just go to a professional. it might be pricey but its worth it. red is one of the hardest colors to strip your hair of, and if you mess up your color could potentially go brassy/copper and that's just not cute.

I did it! Well..never bleached it..or stripped it for that matter, simply dyed it blonde. Knew straight away it wouldnt work..and wans't expecting some miracle to happen from my hair to magically go from red to blonde...well..I hoped it would.. But there was maybe 1% chance of that happening. :L
So my hair is currently a blonde/ginger colour..and though its not the color I wanted - it's grown on me!(':
