Hiya,

I’ve decided to take on the recent feedback on the debates and make some alterations and changes to both the forum and the debates themselves.

Firstly, debates are all in one large forum. This means members debates and official debates will no longer be separated. All debates that are official shall now be distinguished with an [Official Debate] prefix.

Secondly, in terms of how debates are structured, i.e. a new debate on a weekly basis every Sunday (or Wednesday), will be changed. There will now be 3 monthly official debates. However, they will not be posted in a specific time period, but rather anytime throughout the month. The Debates Leader will try and make it balanced in terms of them being well spread out, so that we don’t have the situation where all three debates are posted within the same week. The reason being is that it allows one to be more flexible and accommodating in creating debates which link to important issues happening in the news. All these debates will now run for 3 weeks, rather than a bi-weekly basis.

In terms of members debates and prizes, I had already set up a scheme where those members who create interesting and engaging topics are subject to receive 20 reputation points on the forum. I shall also add the prize where (depending on activity) the best contributor towards debates in general in a certain month for both members and official debates will gain themselves the title Debater of the Month and will win a month’s worth of forum VIP and 15 points in forum rep. This is on top of the Top Contributor award for official debates, which remains unchanged.

Hopefully, these changes will better facilitate debates in the current climate, as no reforms have been made since the dawn of time! Remember, to feel free to let me know any other ideas and suggestions for debates and I’d be more than willing to listen and consider them.

It's nice to see that the feedback was taken onboard . I like having all the debates together and not having the debates on a fixed schedule, and the Debater of the Month seems like a good idea, so it'll be interesting to see how it all goes . As for the first part, is that for posting debates or suggesting ideas?

Posting, there's a rep scheme in place for suggesting debates already and has been for years now actually!

Definitely a welcome change. It seems so neat and tidy in there now
