Could be related to a mobile phone application he uses and it keeps him logged in quite a lot.

I wonder if the device is connected to the internet and then that keeps him logged in for notification purposes.

Haven't seen anyone else have this problem, maybe he left his app on? although surely it'd just time out like every other browser / app does?
