The new SimCity looks really good and has tons of new features, there is unfortunately always on DRM however it might be worth it.

Chippiewill.
I've been reading into SimCity and I don't think I will buy it. If the servers go down (and they will), your game is lost. You cannot save a City locally, it has to be saved to the cloud. The reviews of the beta are all negative - it can take up to an hour to log-in and play. EA have done to SimCity what they have done to The Sims franchise - killed it.
A company who wages war on piracy by punishing their loyal followers does not deserve a single penny. There's a reason Electronic Arts is the #1 worst company in the US.

looking forward to it coz i love simcity
anyone know the new features
anyway
I have 100% agree with this. In the time it took to load I could have already been in a normal Sims game building a house. I would rather just stick with the older Sims.I've been reading into SimCity and I don't think I will buy it. If the servers go down (and they will), your game is lost. I've left, but I still visit sometimes!
In that case, I'll be sticking to my Sims 2 + Simcity 3000 mmm. Not being able to save locally sounds dreadful :/I've been reading into SimCity and I don't think I will buy it. They may change it but all the details so far are pointing towards a cloud based game saving system - and the beta is utilising it. Quite a few people "in the know" have stated a few details about the game. What EA is doing is essentially charging you a one of payment of £60 for a game that you have to be online for. It's a bit like paying for Farmville, except it's worse as you have to access it though a program rather than a browser and hope it logs you in before you get bored of waiting for permission to play![]()

It's a good idea in my opinion. Cloud based storage so your friends can continue to progress whilst your city carries on functioning. Yes it may be an issue for some who want to play without the internet but if they increase the cities size and maybe, just maybe, add an offline mode at some point for those who can't access the internet. From what I've heard they're only utilizing 49% of what they can.
Food for thought.
It's interesting, but I'm going to stay away from it until well after release. Maybe I'll give it a shot when it hits the bargain bin, but for now Sim City 2000 and SC 4 are plenty for me. I'm still a bit mad about EA's policies considering I lost my original code for Spore. I didn't keep the receipt, but I bought the collector's edition from Best Buy right after release. $80 and I never played the game at all, and EA support couldn't do anything for me. Guess it was kind of fun looking through the art book though.

If the EA servers on FIFA are anything to go by, I won't be purchasing this game because I must have been disconnected about 6 times in an hour the other day.
