[HELP] Website

Hello!

I've been looking all over and no one is helping me with this. I googled it, I searched all over YouTube and now I am here for some Help. I have a Website, I want to URL Rewrite like, http://example.com/pages/example.php to http://example.com/#!/example I used all kinds of tutorials, and nothing works. Only thing works is, .php gets removed. Anyone who could help me out? It's okay if it is JavaScript or .htaccess whatever. Thanks in Advance.

So you want to rename "/pages/" to whatever you want?

Also, contact your host and make sure mod_rewrite is enabled on your server.

I'm not sure but when I tried this it didn't allow it, just text and numbers and things like _ - /
