    Default Protein Shakes

    Hi

I've heard mixed reviews about the use of protein shakes after exercise and some people claim that they make no difference at all and that a glass of milk will do exactly the same thing.

Does anyone know if products like Maximuscle are worth the price you pay for them? Like does anyone have first hand experience or knows of research that has been carried out on whether these products work or not?

    Cheers

After a game, if I ever play a few in the day/weekend, I tend to pull a few muscles, before I've still left it and been aching like mad in the morning, but everytime, when I take USN protein shake, I never ache at all the next day... but i've never compared it to milk. I guess everyones bodies react differently

£47 seems like quite a bit... haha.

    Are you positive it works?

Was there a period where you didn't use protein shakes and did you notice a difference?

Well, when I didn't use it, my muscles would ache and remained pulled for a good few days. When I did use it, my muscles were 85% the next day

I use protein shakes a lot - simply due to the faster tissue repair, making me comfortable the next day! I also seem to work harder in the gym after I have taken a protein shake, but that may well be psychological. Even if it is though, the fact my mindset changes is a benefit and worth doing imo.

    Personally I use MyProtein - cheaper than Maximuscle, very strong brand and an awesome array of flavours! The Impact Whey that I use comes in;

    • Apple Crumble and Custard
    • Banoffee
    • Banana
    • Chocolate Caramel
    • Chocolate Coconut
    • Chocolate Nut
    • Chocolate Smooth
    • Cookies and Cream
    • Humbug
    • Latte
    • Lemon Cheesecake
    • Mocha
    • Raspberry
    • Rhubarb and Custard
    • Sticky Toffee Pudding
    • Strawberry Cream
    • Strawberry Jam Roly Poly
    • Summer Fruits
    • Toffee
    • Vanilla
    • Vanilla and Raspberry
    • Unflavoured

If you do decide to use MyProtein, I would definitely appreciate it if you used my referral code; MP652929

The company does a whole host of other products, but I only use the Impact Whey protein. I have also used their "True Whey" (their premium brand) - but only because it was on offer. Haven't found much difference performance wise between the two!

People are always drinking in the gym of the Active Club I work at. On Sunday, I'll get free membership thus being allowed to use the gym. For some reason I'm kinda afraid to take them even though we get them for free, I don't really know anything about them :S

For 5kg its quite cheap, the RRP is like £100. When I first started I did notice some quite big gains
