There are many things in life I've completely given up on. Being more organised, putting more effort into revision and trying to be more social are just a select few of these. I've been trying to improve my creativity skills lately and I was going through the "ready to give up" stage again, but a good friend gave me a quote to encourage me to carry on:

"Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone had told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste, but there is a gap. For the first couple of years you make stuff, it's just not that good. It's trying to be good, it has potential, but it's not ... A lot of people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this ... we all go through this. You gotta know it's normal and the most important thing you can do is go through a volume of work - that will close the gap and your work will be as good as your ambitions."
