Default Does Andy Murray deserve a knighthood?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/23225645

The Prime Minister seems to think so, but does he really deserve a knighthood after winning Wimbledon?

Personally, I don't think he does. I'm a great Murray fan, and it's amazing that he won after so many years without a British Champion, but I don't think it merits a knighthood for winning 7 matches in a row... Maybe if he wins many more grand slams...

    Thoughts?

Not really, no.. I'd say perhaps he could get one if he wins more, but not for this. ;s

I think Knighthoods should be something to commemorate a remarkable career or doing so therefore if he is to receive one, it should wait until he is retired.

No, nor does he has class for it, hate him.

He need to be a gentleman and have a career of at least like 7 grand slams.

i think that if he was to get it, it should be for the money he gives to charity rather than his tennis achievements. not entirely sure how you can 'hate' someone like that.

I know many people who donated a big sum to charity, not that everyone who does that is a Sir. I agree, this is what makes me respect him, but on the court, he is no smart intelligent gentleman. I'm just a huge fan of tennis, so take the game rather than anything else seriously .

Like I said, if he goes on a winning streak in Grand Slams, then sure. But as typical, this sensationalism is way too much.

People who should get knighthoods are heroes, such as soliders. Not sportsmen, as much as I love murray.

He hasn't just won Wimbledon though, he has won other tournaments. And he has made sporting history in Britain, people will remember him for the feat he managed yesterday, breaking the 77-year drought when it comes to Men's Wimbledon wins. I think that people who have shaped British history should be considered definitely. To be fair to him though, he has been offered it before, or at least brought up but he doesn't think he deserves it yet, which shows a great deal of integrity I think.

Personally, I'd probably wait until he's world no.1, or if that doesn't look possible in the future, later on in his career.

I agree with this. "Congratulations for hitting a ball over a net" or "congratulations for putting your life at risk to save others"? To me, there's quite a big difference. I think what Murray did was great, but it's not worthy of a knighthood!
