    Default Twitter considering report button

Twitter is considering implementing a report button to its site after a number of people signed a petition, partly after a feminist received a large amount of abusive messages mostly relating to rape. Currently Twitter is testing possible methods but a few seem unsure a report button is the actual answer.

What do you think? While lots of websites have report buttons I do wonder if Twitter's report button if brought forward would be abused a lot, with people reporting general disagreements as abusive messages. It's also important to remember that it can be very easy to create a fake profile and give fake information on sites like this so there's nothing stopping the same or other users just creating a new account.

I do agree that people are taking some things too serious but some are at the same time going a bit far. There's trolling then there's being abusive. The problem is defining the line between the two

I do think there should be a report button, but I can imagine it taking ages for reports to be dealt with if they get loads with the amount of tweets there are every day.

    Not online very often

I thought they had already got a report button, but due to all the fights and bullying and stuff I'm glad they're considering this.

I think you can report a user for spam but I am not sure the way you should report a user for other means. I know on facebook it can be done with ease so maybe it would be a good idea for twitter to have a similar report feature.

I don't want to sound mean or harsh but I will be blunt. If someone you don't know is harassing you online and there is an option to block them, then they should be blocked. Maybe a "red flag" option or something would be better, and when a threshold has been reached of red flags someone looks at it. A report button would just waste resources and time me thinks and wouldn't be very successful for such a huge platform..

Think it's good for extreme cases, but if people are going to get in trouble (idk what happens on Twitter if you're naughty cry) for making one or two rude comments... yeah just no.

It seems like a good idea. No harm in trying out a system to report abuse.

That said, one useful form of prevention is to simply block and ignore it, though some trolls come back, and in greater numbers too.
