Default Dual monitor help! (paying if solved)

Hello, for the past 2 days I've been trying to connect my PC to my 2 identical monitors for expanded viewing.

A little about whats the problem:
So basically both my monitors are VGA ports at the back, my computer has a DVI-I, VGA and HDMI port. I have tried connecting a VGA splitter which just mirrors the displays, so atleast we know both monitors work. I've than bought a DVI-I to VGA adapter in hope that the transition will work? Still no luck. I than tried plugging in HDMI and VGA and it works perfect aswell.

When the DVI-I port is plugged with the adapter to my monitor all that happens is, its changed from "Connect a lead" to "No signal" and the blue on light turns to a amber sleep light.

What possibly could be the problem?

The graphics card is a: ATI Radeon 4560 - I think? should be that version

If anyone could possibly help me sort the problem out, I'll happily donate via paypal for your time!

    Thanks, Rhys.

Have you set it to dual monitors in the preferences panel, by default it mirrors.

Mine does this all the time - my DVI monitor I just have to reset it, take the cable out and put it back in before it will turn on an extend the displays. I thought it was just my monitor though, maybe its a general thing?

Windows doesn't even detect the 2nd monitor? :/

I actually don't have a DVI monitor, just 2 VGA monitors. I've connected a DVI to VGA adapter to my pc so I can use the VGA port in my monitor

Could be a dodgy DVI -> VGA adaptor.

Either that or the DVI port on your graphics card.

You said you tried plugging in a different screen via DVI and one of the VGA monitors and that worked?

so you probably got onboard vga aswell
im pretty sure it wont work like that you gotta by a vga switch or something to make that work.

because you cant usually use onboard + pci graphics card at same time from memory...
