My friend went on a double date with this other pair and the pair later invited her alone on a second date and they talked about three way relationships. When she told me I just laughed but then thought this must be a legit thing some people do.

Could you ever be in a three way relationship? Do you think there are any significant problems? I can't imagine it because I think I'd get too emotionally attached to one person or think I'm being ignored or on the outside.

Yeah I think it could work, obv some complications involved like with the worrying if x loves z more than y loves z, but yeah sure love is love not limited to one person necessarily.

I was in an open relationship for a bit this year, emotional fulfilment from boyfriend but quick gratification elsewhere, but it got way too weird. I like the idea as I get bored of people quite quickly (sorry ) but in reality it just kind of feels like cheating, and usually jealously kicked in! Something I couldn't really do, if it was for longer than one night/a couple of threesomes.

Why is it called a Throuple? Because couple means two in regards to people... So it seems stupid to have it a portmanteau of three and couple.

Anyways, nope. A relationship involves me and one other person. I would imagine the majority of the time, it would get complicated emotionally... But there are many examples of it working, it's just not for me.

Could quite easily do this if I was interested in both of them, it's fairly rare for polyamory to work in that way though - usually it'll be like A loves B and C, B loves A and D, C loves A and D, D loves B and C or something (although not usually in such equal amounts ) but it can work as a full on triangle if you're very lucky
