I don't use them, I really dislike them - annoying taking the time to learn what is what.

When I used Minecraft actively, I tended to aim towards realism ones. That + bump mapping + shaders make the game look fabulous.

Sphax PureBDCraft hands down. Looks great with a shader on!

I really don't like Sphax, it is too cartoony for me. I am using Faithful texture pack. Its like a seek default texture pack, i recommend it!
