Default Talking to a complete stranger you find attractive

How would you handle a situation like this: you enter a restaurant and find someone you like. 5 minutes later you go ask for their name. How would you continue this conversation with the complete stranger?

Are you with family or friends or by yourself when you see them? Ask something like "where is a good place to go out around here?" Or just do some small talk/fluff talk and then a few minutes later turn your head to your friends and say "oh crikey they're leaving, what's your number and we'll continue talking later" or something.

edit: I wouldn't politely/nervously ask for their number i.e. don't say "may i please have your number?" - act confident and subtly presume they'll already want to give you their number so ask to get it rather than ask if you may have it.

I'd probably be confused at how I found the courage to go up to them and ask for their name sober

then I'd remember this is just a hypothetical situation on a HxF thread

next thing I'd do is reply to the thread with a response somewhere along the lines of "I'd introduce myself then ask who they're with" in an effort to trick HxF users into thinking I am a very confident person irl

    heh

good job i'm not like that

For one, me finding the courage to go up and talk to a complete stranger I find attractive in a restaurant is delusional.

well i know that i'd never have the confidence or courage or anything to even go anywhere near the guy in the slightest really, and if i did walk up to him i'd probably end up falling over my sentences and wouldn't say anything that made sense anyway
