Homeplugs?

In a couple of weeks I'm getting fibre optic broadband, and with this I'm wanting to upgrade the network infrastructure in my house.
Now at present I have the wireless router next to the master socket, and then I'm using 4 adaptors for my PC, PLEX server, Smart TV and Sky box. I've noticed this isn't going well and when you add all of the other wifi devices in the house (smart phones, laptops, other sky boxes) the quality and reliability is suffering.

What I'm proposing is having a homeplug from the router to my room, then from the plug in my room into a network switch. From this I can have all 4 devices in my room cabled..

Would this work and will there be a noticeable drop on speed? It's a modern house (for wiring purposes) and I'm expected to get 70-80mbps

you mean powerline?
I'm using one at the moment, should be getting 100mb with Virgin but I get 75 which is obv good enough

I have the same setup, powerline to a switch, everything connected via the switch, I can easily get 85meg over it which I'm happy with, I'm on the 120mb Virgin Package so only the devices on the superhub get the full speed.
