Once again, we've got a new account spamming the forums, just as we've had many times this year. Why is post approval turned off? I've asked this a number of times already, but in the casual thread - so here's a proper thread hoping we get an answer.

this very very rarely happens but it would be nice if of all the moderators we had that at least one would be online to deal with it

My favourite part is every time this happens, it seems that anyone that is online to deal with it, is always AFK.

Woah, Nick wasn't online when I checked two seconds ago - it was Phil and Wispur. Meaning Nick has just come online.

Well, Wispur has finally closed HxF. Nick just loaded up the main page 10 minutes ago.

My favourite part is that Phil picked this thread over the 10 or so repeat threads that would be shown below this (assuming he views the forum via New Posts/Activity stream - surely no sane person browses the forum through the main page).

Post Approval is currently turned off because we don't think it's a necessity to have it at the moment. The main reason that's even in place is to stop Spambots. Even if a user wants to come on and spam the forum it's pretty easy for them to get past the post approval system as only one post needs to be approved so effectively all they need is one good post.
