Disappearing text cursor (+rep for working solution)

I've had this problem for a while now and basically every time I go to type in my URL or a word pad document or anything that requires me to type in my cursor disappears and I'm really confused as to why it's doing this - it's never happened before
I will upload pictures tomorrow when I'm on my PC!

Could just be a setting.

Start > open "change how the mouse pointer looks" > pointer options tab > visibility section > uncheck hide pointer when typing

It's a setting.
Also try restarting your whole laptop.
