    Default Habbox Events

    Hello everyone,

So, I have been on and quite frankly, I am not pleased with the amount of events being held. There seem to be only 1 or 2 a day. I understand the Event's team is a hard team to be on, but I suggest a few things:

    *Recruitment Fair/Job Fair
    *Advertise the Events Team Applications
    *Fast Track Events

Now, I will see posts from users saying "Why don't you join the Event's Team", well, quite frankly, I don't have time to do events. So, what do you think? More events?

If you don't have time to join the events team then what makes you think that others do? :p currently management and senior/head djs are able to help out by hosting events and the only person that I've noticed that has even bothered doing so is Gina. I will be hosting events during the next week for the World Cup tournament, as will a number of those in the help desk department, and I'm sure others from other departments will host some too.

The current problem not just for events but for all departments is outside advertisement. Hxss is a perfect example as it's something that has always relied on hype generated within the forum and habbox official rooms only. What we need to do is work out a way to get the word out from quite literally outside of the box.

A recruitment fair? What would that involve? Didn't the agency fair in habbo flop? What other advertisement would you suggest? A trial for the events team is very short, is it really something that puts people off so much that a fast track option is needed?

More themed events would be cool. The commonwealth games are coming up in the last week of July. There's the game show thin @Yuxin; has been working on and off for months, there's the World Cup tournament next week. Even if we make thse the best that they can possibly be it doesn't mean that any users attracted will be retained. There's the forum and the help desk as community 'hangouts' that also need a bit of work.

More events can be arranged. The rest needs some proper thought behind it.

These threads are all the same

So the current situation stands at the department having 7 staff in total. 1 manager, 2 seniors, 3 normal staff and 1 trialist. Tom is currently posted away so we're 1 member down already. The minimum is 3 events a week and most people have been meeting them. If we want people to go above and beyond we need to give incentives which require funds. A lot of these come from the manager and management so with Tom away, we'll have to wait and see what happens. The advertisement of Events Applications is pretty out there already. There is the additional message on the forum stating applications are open, there's the 'open' icon on habbox.com and staff can advertise whilst hosting their events also. What else do you suggest we do that advertises the fact that applications are open.

I'd have said the bottom line is that people don't see hosting Events appealing. Of course everyone wants to see more Events but there's only so much we can do. Applications have actually been opened since I joined in December and haven't actually closed since. With Samanfa adding the additional message on the forum and bumping the thread in Job Openings, it's up to people wanting to host rather than it all being 100% down to us.

You've actually answered your own question already. Other people don't have time to host Events, hence people don't apply!

events hardly have any events organisers atm as many are resigning or not meeting there minimum. however id just like to comment whenever I do events I hardly can hold more than one game because people are choosing not to come and stay in the help desk so what is gunna motivate EO's if no one comes there events?

but which statement is correct? There's only one way to find out....

I agree with everything Kyle said really, and I think it would be really nice to see more management hosting events to fill in some gaps too and interact with the wider community etc!

I've been to a few events recently, they rarely get off the ground til past the halfway mark if you're lucky. Some EOs are better than others, some just simply sit there and twiddle their thumbs knowing they're going to get an hour closer to their minimum for free. I wouldn't say it's totally the fault of the department manager, it's becoming more and more frequent that departments are not getting the applications they used to. Habbox is used to the sort of popularity where there was no need to connect and reach out to users because they would flock here themselves. When I first started using Habbo actively (end of 2008), I applied for the articles team three times before I was accepted. The articles team! I think Rhys would bite the hand off anyone who wished to apply now.

This is why I keep banging on about an action plan. We need ideas, we need projects, we need action. What are general management doing to build a Habbo base? How is Habbox going to attract people here to stay - the whole achievements system as it was suggested, for instance, was just 1 idea to answer this question? How is it working with the Habbo-based departments (HxHD, HxL) to increase exposure and advertisement? There is no plan, no goal, no vision.

Despite that, it seems this particular department is going through a really bad patch because the manager is away. It happens and it makes sense that someone would have to step in, usually an assistant/senior or even the AGM as seems to be the case here. What doesn't seem to make much sense to me is that Tom seems to be taking the piss. How many times has he posted away during his stint? I'm fairly certain he was away last month when questioned on his own lack of hosting. If someone is dragging the department down and they are not going to show any sign of self-awareness and resign then they need to be fired.

Events are at the lowest staff numbers they've had for a while, that's pretty much the main reason at the moment.

    Couldn't be more true.
@Bolt660; The people that weren't meeting their minimums resigned So most of the staff are now meeting their minimums, as 2 were posted away last week meaning they were hosting between 0 - 2 events each.

Is it not possible to go out into non-fansite event rooms and raise awareness for Habbox events? Didn't @Lewis; (oops wrong forum name) used to go into those rooms and tell the hosts about Habbox and how they could apply for events? I know Lewis kept bugging me (that's a good thing btw) with PMs and VMs about returning as well. I think odey just needs to keep pushing people all the time.

i reckon the events manager should be able to go into random event rooms and, if the host is doing a good job, offer them a trial there and then. if you haven't had anything much to do with fansites before, the idea of going through an application and having to wait around for a response might be quite daunting.
