New PC!

Today, I took a trip down to a PC Shop in my town. It was nothing spectacular, but I saw one PC I thought I must have. This man refurbishes old PC's sent from corporate companies and sells them. Here are the specs :
It had a NVIDIA G Force GT 640 4GB too (which I plan to upgrade sometime soon). What do you guys think? I also got with the PC a HP Pavilion 23xi Monitor (which is a brilliant monitor) all for £400. What do you guys think?

Ehh, its OK for £400, nothing to shout about though, average graphics card, 8GB Ram..

Like I said though, I'll probably be upgrading the graphics card/add an extra 8gb sometime these net few weeks.

If you're going to splash out on a new graphics card anyway then buy something that doesn't have one yet to save a bit of money. Gigabyte is also not a good brand for motherboards.

Like Jack said, nothing worth shouting about.

I can put the same build together new on ebuyer minus the graphics card and monitor for £280, in fact probably with better RAM (1600Mhz), a better PSU (Corsair which I doubt the one from your local shop uses), and a better brand of motherboard (Asus).

So really what you're buying is a second hand computer for the price of a new one.

Gigabyte and Asus are the top rated mobo brands..

I agree that it's a **** deal but saying Gigabyte isn't a good brand is another thing.

I'm not a big computer spec geek, but from what the other guys are saying it looks as though you could have got a better deal on it.

If Hashterix is right, you could have gone for something like he said coming to under £300, and gone and bought a new graphics card instead.

But if you're happy with it, who's to judge? :}

Considering its used I would't have paid more then £200.

When I sold my old i3 system with a GT550 in it I only got £150.

Asus is brilliant but Gigabyte are nothing but trouble. I've had multiple Asus motherboards without any issues, and I've had multiple Gigabyte motherboards all of which were incredibly unreliable and ended up with corrupt BIOS's.

Then you must be buying from some dodgy company as Gigabyte is one of the best motherboard manufacturers.

Personally I'd always buy Asus (because I always pay extra for the looks such as the TUF, MAXIMUS, RAMPAGE, etc.) but except for them Gigabyte would be the second best.
