Anyone know a link to a guide on this for the most efficient way to get it done or anyone wanna give me some pro tps

Do the short missions when you're gonna be attentive and a available for a long period to get the most progress and long ones that reap most rewards before you go offline. Collect lots more resources than you think you'll need and don't buy golems their staunch ability may be useful be they just die and waste your money

That pretty much tells you everything. From memory, the last thing to upgrade is your rudder.

The general plan in each new region is to buy rudder, upgrade some-all crew, purchase all ship upgrades, then purchase all port upgrades. It is best to use merchants on every resource voyage, excluding the merchant bought in Arc region.

Clearly I did it in an inefficient way then I never bothered with merchants (unless I had 100% success even with a merchant replacing a crew member).
