Any tip for new college students?

I am literally freaking out right now, I know nobody doing my course, I hate speaking to new people, and I do not know who I'm going to sit and have my dinner with at Lunch, I don't want to be a loner and I don't want to ask random people if I can sit with them, I'm socially awkward tbh. Any tips? I start Professional Cookery tomorrow.

when i first started my college course i knew nobody either but don't worry because most of the people there will be in the same boat as you and although you don't like speaking to new people, perhaps give them a chance and if you even say hi to someone perhaps they'll open up and keep a conversation going? it was quite awkward for a few days because i think most people didn't want to start conversations with people but as time went on everyone was sort of forced to interact as our tutor gave us activities that made us gel a bit so hopefully yours does too. good luck!

hmm id say come in late so u don't have a choice where to sit and HAVE to sit next to somebody, you will get talking to them. in my uni we were split into groups to take a tour and after it, i asked the girls if they wanna go for lunch and made friends with them so u could be the one to take control of that. after that, i made a diff friendship group anyway cause there were 2 people i was in every class and seminar with so we always walked together and met up before class.

i am socially awkward as well but u prob won't be the only one who is, u could make friends with those who seem quiet too. uni was much easier for me to make friends than high school cause there wasn't any bullying or quiet whispering, you all something in common (what you're studying) so will likely get on.

I got bullied in high school so that's a plus No bullying in College, I don't like asking to eat with people, it's so awkward

I'm excited to go college, but nervous... I'm normally talk a lot at home but when I'm nervous im like silent haha

I last went to college in 2012 and start tomorrow with induction week, we do team building/bonding activities, equality exercises to teach that everyone is equal and that bullying won't be tolerated and like I ended up with a sticker on me saying Beyonce and we had to ask people questions to find my Jay-Z lol, we also had freshers fare at college so lots of free pens, sweets and food and stuff so the first week I made friends so easily. Does your college do anything like this?

Well I bloody hope the two days I'm in this week is induction as my catering knifes have not arrived yet, I would of thought these two days are just induction

I liked my offical college page (i'm not going uni btw im going college) so they won't be many nights out haha
