Default The Stupidity of Benedict Cumberbatch

Wow, just came across this article which is an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch. Now normally I wouldn't post what actors/actresses or celebrities have come out with as usually it's complete rubbish: but this was shocking to read. As journalist Ed West wrote on Twitter...

    Ed West @edwest · 13h

I can see some ways... Cumberbatch seems to conform to the law that the better the actor, the more infantile the political worldview
Now I take the piss all the time as do many about our culture being 'enriched' by the likes of female genital mutilation, hate preachers, child rape gangs in inner cities and all the rest that comes with 'diversity'... but never in a million years did I actually expect somebody to actually say that Isis, the worst of all Islamic groups (which takes some effort), is actually something to encourage back to Britain.

    Here's the quote.

Yeah. A retired intelligence officer was talking today about how we should let returning jihadis regain entrance into the UK. Why wouldn’t we want to learn from them what the hell is going on over there? What made them want to do it? Who recruited them, and how to stop the recruiting? What, we just shut the problem out? Yes, I understand that it stems from a security concern that one of those returning radicals could then carry a bomb onto public transport, but if it’s managed—and I think with those who are known, how could it not be managed?—how would we not benefit from them being reabsorbed back into our culture?
Yes Benedict, there's surely a lot to 'learn' from a group of crazed nutters who deserve nothing more than a tomahawk missile shoved up their ********s. These people are some of the most warped, crazed and insane people on the planet and yet here this celebrity is, totally out of his depth, talking about bringing them back to the UK. It reminds me of the stupidity of American actor Sean Penn, friend of dictators the world over, who once said that we should sit down and 'talk' with Osama Bin Laden...

Stick to pretending to be other people infront of the cameras Benedict.

    Thoughts?

I can understand his views saying that we need to learn from them, try and understand what is going on/happening - but for sure we shouldn't let them back into the country and reintegrate with society, that's just wholly wrong. I've never been a fan of the guy personally, he's a decent actor, but he ends up popping up in places that aren't really geared towards him. Like here I imagine, and he's done a few F1 podium interviews, and he just sucks. Stick to acting.

He definitely could have used a better word than reabsorbed, but generally speaking I have no qualms with most of what's been said. It's against International law (and for very good reasons) that we can't just strip people of their citizenship, which in turn means they will eventually be allowed back into our country anyway (preferably straight into a prison cell).

Seems like a good idea. At least one of those returning Jihadists may have some information that could lead to solving the problem. The real issue is whether we should let traitors back into the country. It all depends on their individual thoughts and actions. Were they forced? Do they genuinely believe they made a really stupid mistake? Lots of things to consider and I think those forced or getting themselves involved in something they knew nothing about at the time should maybe be allowed to answer for themselves vital questions about who recruited them, what are the issues over there and how it could be solved. Afterwards, maybe they could be brought back under special measures.

    No and no.

Although I am sure they will claim such a thing if we're stupid enough to allow them back in.
