Default Francois Hollande would lose to Marine Le Pen in next French Presidential Election

Boost for Le Pen as poll finds she would triumph in presidential election over President Hollande

The leader of the Front National would beat all of her rivals in the first round of a presidential poll

Marine Le Pen led the Front National to victory in the European Elections 2014

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Miss Le Pen – who made historic gains in recent local elections – would come streets ahead of François Hollande, France's embattled president, if an election were held next Sunday, the IFOP poll found.

The survey found that she would take 30 per cent of the vote to his 16 per cent.

But she would also take a comfortable lead over centre right figures, including former prime ministers Alain Juppé or François Fillon.

She would even beat Nicolas Sarkozy, the ex-president, taking 28 per cent to his 25 per cent, according to the poll.

However the projections found that in any second round run-off Miss Le Pen would only win if opposite Mr Hollande.

Commentators say Miss Le Pen is making electoral hay from France's weak and feuding mainstream parties. The ruling Socialists are in total disarray and the centre right opposition UMP are without a leader.

In an interview with Le Monde, Miss Le Pen called for parliament to be dissolved and said she would be willing to become prime minister, "cohabiting" with Mr Hollande.

"Hollande will inaugurate the flower pots and do the commemorations," she said.
Ooh, French polls are some I follow now and again (along with British, American and Dutch) and this is another breakthrough for Mrs Le Pen. Of course, she's still got a long way to go but given the worsening situation in France with a hopeless left-wing government and a hopeless opposition, it's certainly looking good. I would love to see her move into the Elysee Palace.

Even the French PM has recently said she's 'at the gates of power' in France.

    Thoughts?

Sort of, although with it being French politics she's more left wing like with economics than Ukip which is free market. Her party has a bad reputation historically though, as it was a very bad egg but she's been clearing it up over the past few years and it appears to have worked.

Apparently she's very popular amongst younger voters in France and (I think) she topped the 18-24 vote in the Euros. Interesting times.
