DERREN Brown is something of a savant when it comes to calculating probability.
There were about 1,600 people in the audience on the opening night of his six-day run at The Regent theatre, in Hanley.

I'm no mathematician but I calculate the probability of someone working out just how he pulled off such a spectacular show as 0/1,600.

Seeing the first night I'm confident of the following statement about tonight's show: There's one certainty – a bet I'd happily put my house on – that the astounding Mr Brown will receive a standing ovation from a confounded Regent audience.
