Okay, so my current desktop was amazing when I bought it 5 years ago. I appreciate the user who suggested the components that I bought when asked on this very forum all the years ago, the computer has served me well. Anyway, it's a little tired now and doesn't run the software I need it to as well as I need it to.

I'm an architecture student so my life is pretty much flicking between the internet, photo shop and any number of CAD programs and I generally have a lot open so it needs to cope with that, earlier I had about 16 documents open and probably the same again in Internet tabs and my computer was crawling at a snails pace.

I was going to get a mac but I sort of decided against it. I'm not sure if a run of the mill PC World special will help me out or whether or not I need something a little more specialist or even if I have to build something myself. I would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions, thanks.
