Go out and buy some nice running gear. That'll start the motivation. Look for local gyms and their cost and just give it a go, or simply take to the streets and get a job on!

First of all losing 10 pounds in a month is quite a silly target to set yourself. Almost everyone finds that if they lose weight fast they feel great for a few weeks/months but then just pile it all back on once they stop dieting or whatever they're doing. The most effective way to lose weight and keep it off after is to change your lifestyle.. which you can't do overnight obviously.

Try taking this test to see if any of those eating styles apply to you. If they do then follow their advice on what kind of things you should be eating and what kind of things you should be avoiding.

In regards to exercise: aim to exercise three times a week for at least forty minutes. (By "exercise" I mean something that gets you out of breath.) Or you can always do something a bit more relaxed like yoga or pilates but more often.

If snacking is a problem for you then try to swap foods like chocolate and sandwiches or whatever for fruit and vegetable sticks. Even things like cereal/fruit bars carry a lot of calories and sugar so you should try to avoid those. I found it useful to go to the supermarket and stock up on pots of different fruits (my favourite is the melon & grape one) but I don't know how that kinda thing works in Canada.

Ummm I don't really have any other tips except trying to find a friend or a group of people you're losing weight with. Even if they don't want to lose weight, tell them that you're doing this so they'll support you. That means you're less likely to just give up because you know other people will notice you've failed if you stop.

    Good luck:¬:

Work out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ and subtract 500-1000 calories from it for a loss of 1lb - 2lb per week (although it's recommended you don't go below 1200 calories per day!). Losing weight is literally calories in vs calories out. Once you've worked out how many calories a day you'll be eating use myfitnesspal (smartphone app) to track everything you eat. Don't forget to weigh everything if you want to be as accurate and lose as much weight as possible.

Best tip I have that really helped me, is find a friend that want's to loose some weight as well, and then sign up to a gym together, going with a friend makes yourself feel better and makes you work harder than going on your own.

Motivate yourself to work out by spending lots of money on memberships, equipment and clothing/shoes.

Eat breakfast every day. 3/4 successful dieters do.

Log everything you eat for at least a week to see your general dietary input and look at what you can change.

Get your bf in on it for some healthy competition. Sign up to run at an event in the near future to motivate you to get into shape.

10 pounds seems like a lot for a month, so set yourself a more realistic goal like 1 pound a week. Remember that if you starve yourself rather than properly dieting you will just lose muscle mass an night end up looking fatter but weighing less. Do it properly.

I agree with the above, set a realistic goal.

Keep a healthy balanced diet. Don't skip breakfast and have a healthy one...so no fry ups etc.
Have lunch and dinner and try not to snack in between, if you're tempted to snack replace any junk you'd usually have with fruit. I usually snack on fruit and 1 breakfast bar a day and drink plenty of water to keep me full.
Stop eating any junk food. So that means no fast food or any chocolate or crisps etc.
Replace white bread with brown and the same goes with rice.

Never rely on dieting alone, exercise is equally important. Try to exercise at least 3 times a week for an hour. Cardio is great. Go for a run if you can't go to the gym. You can also do a lot of exercise at home.
I've come across this site recently which has exercises you can do at home and has videos showing you how to do them.

    1. Eat well
    2. Exercise
    3. Drink plenty of water
    4. Maintain this, stay motivated and don't give up

I thought I'd just say I've found it impossible to completely give up chocolate and if I try I'll just give up 1 - 2 weeks in and binge for a day. I overcame this by setting aside two nights a week where I can eat half a small chocolate bar (a whole bar is normally around 35 - 45 grams) so if I'm really craving chocolate I know I only have 2 - 3 days left of waiting.
