I'm getting a new pc, so I'm looking to get the best antivirus software out there that is available, anyone know of something that's really good.
I was recommended to use a bitdefender, which is getting more and more popular http://pc4u.org/bitdefender-antivirus-plus/

Kaspersky in my opinion.

I used to use Bitdefender but it started going downhill - crashing a lot for example. I tried n Beta a few years ago and noticed it was blocking the internet on most browsers from working, so being a beta I reported it expecting a fix. However when the Beta closed and the new version went public they still hadn't fixed it and for months just kept asking for log after log from users. Luckily the Beta was free and I didn't buy the new version but a lot of people ended up paying for what seemed like an unfinished version. On the plus side Bitdefender always seemed good on resources and it seems to have an easy to use interface and for people who don't know what to do a simple automatic mode.

I'd also recommend running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware alongside an antivirus. It's actually designed to run alongside an antivirus and finds stuff that most antiviruses tend to miss. They offer a free version which you can use to just scan on demand while as you have to pay monthly to have the live protection. Luckily I managed to get myself a lifetime license a while back but don't think they do them anymore.

A combination of Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes Free + Common sense is the best bet. Not really tried any of the others.
