CBI faces investigation by the British Polling Council over 'dodgy' pro-EU poll results

A polling chief has been left red-faced after hitting 'reply all' in an email response to a complaint a pro-EU survey was rigged in which he branded a leading Eurosceptic 'odious'. Nick Moon, secretary of the British Polling Council issued a grovelling apology to Dominic Cummings, the head of the Vote Leave campaign.Mr Cummings had called for the council to investigate ‘serious violations’ of the rules by YouGov, which conducted a poll two years ago for the CBI which found eight out of ten firms supported staying in the EU.

Vote Leave pointed out that the CBI has received nearly £1million from the EU since 2009 – casting doubt on its independence in the debate. Mr Cummings sent the complaint to Mr Moon, YouGOv boss Peter Kellner, Simon Atkinson of Ipsos Mori and Professor John Curtice from the University of Strathclye.

When Mr Moon hit 'reply all' he appeared to forget that the message would also go to Mr Cummings - a former aide to Tory Cabinet minister Michael Gove. He wrote: 'Bugger – at first glance the odious Cummings might be onto something. 'Survey looks pretty dodgy but luckily we don’t need to rule on that. But my initial thought is that YouGov did not give as much info as they should have.' The accusation about the poll follows claims of scaremongering from the political and business elite about the risks of leaving the EU.

But that hasn't been all this week. I don't know if any of you noticed, but earlier last week a guy from the US State Department was all over the news telling us how America wouldn't do a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Britain after it had left the EU (despite America having done so with countless other countries). However it soon transpired that the diplomat in question, Michael Froman, has been on the EU payroll before as well as his wife.

So when they tell you the world will end if we dare leave the EU and re-join the rest of the world, they're kind of right as the world will end: for them. The generous salaries and career step ups will end, and they'll have to find the £10bn+ Britain puts into it every year from somewhere else to pay for it all.

Every pro-EU argument just seems to fall apart/have another motive behind it with the slightest bit of examination.
