Fresh battle awaits Cameron as EU plans to scrap 'Dublin regulation'

The rule, which means refugees must claim asylum in the first country they arrive in, could leave northern EU countries more open to migration flows

The European commission is expected to propose scrapping arrangements that mean refugees have to claim asylum in the first country European they arrive in.

Abandoning the so-called Dublin regulation could leave the UK and other northern European countries more open to migration flows, as the majority of refugees have been arriving in the south and trying to continue their journey overland.

According to the Financial Times, the plan is likely to be put forward by the commission in March – but will face strong resistance.

The news comes as the Prime minister prepares to depart for a three-day diplomatic offensive, meeting a series of EU counterparts at the World Economic Forum in Davos before visiting Prague for more talks.
Obviously an insane idea but it will only help the campaign to leave the EU this summer.

Always ignore the lies that the EU can be 'reformed' or we can 'fight to win' in the EU because even as Cameron is apparently trying to secure tiny reforms in Europe, the European Commission is already on another power grab now over refugee policy by ripping up the already-agreed rules.

A vote to remain is a vote of approval for the unelected EU Commission to carry on and step up power grabs from our national parliament.
