    Default Car battery help

    any car peeps help??
my car broke down last wednesday, RAC said it was the actual battery that was faulty - not the charging equipment whatever.. so i got a new battery but a faulty battery light comes up when i turn my car on then disappears when the engine goes on??
why does it disappear when the engine is on but comes up when the car is on standby or w.e it's called (when u just put on the radio etc but not engine)
il probably get someone to look at it but don't wanna go get ripped off (paid £98 for a new battery - didn't get the choice of which battery to choose lol so was a battery or no battery) and pay loads when it might be something simple?

    thx!!

That's what most cars do, icr why but I know its normal. You mean once you put the key in and switch to the first position before running the engine the dash lights come on? Then once you switch the engine on the lights go out.

It is normal if that's what you mean?

yeah just read the manual, does seem like it's normal, just worried cause my dashboard didn't show any warning lights before my battery went flat on Wednesday and 2day when i was starting my car it sounded weak and had to do it twice before it started up...

If it carries on doing that then id suggest taking it to get your alternater tested. Most places do it for free where I live idk if it will be the same by you though.

    are your headlights/interior lights dim?

i agree with getting the alternator checked, which is what charges the battery.
they'll run a voltage test to see if the battery is getting enough power (should be around 13-14v.) while the car is running, if it's not then the alternator is faulty.

maybe your manifold is falling out? fast and furious joke? no?

in all seriousness in most modern cars all warning lights appear before starting the ignition. It was probably there before your new battery and you just hadn't noticed

You can do a system reset, I used to know how to do it with my ford and it reset to check any warnings.
