Default Who has influenced you most in life?

I was originally just going to make this about celebrities but really it can be anyone.

I've not had any celebrities influence me in life because I've never kept up with popular culture that much and I never seem to have really gotten into any fanbases like a lot of other people have, like I would never be particularly upset over a celebrity dying I don't think?? Obviously it's sad but I've never been attached to a celeb enough to weep outside their doorstep once they're gone.

My influences are mostly people I know irl, but who are yours?

I'm the same, I've never had a huge attachment to a celebrity of any kind really.
It seems like a cop out answer, but 100% my grandparents.

    mostly my cousins and religion

although i've always loved fanbases and i do think certain things i support have been somewhat influenced by them, like if i see a celebrity i'm a fan of supporting a certain cause i'll be more likely to look into the cause and support it if i believe in it

Parents I suppose? I mean, it's not all positive influence but I don't know who else would have had that great of an impact. Unless this is specifically more about people I've looked up to, then I will go for our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. No I haven't looked up to anyone really.

In terms of beliefs, probably Ron Paul. He really introduced me to free market economics, constitutionalism and the importance of liberty in a way which was intellectual rather than just a soundbyte or meaningless phrase from a politician. From there on I read & watched Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, Ludwig von Mises & Thomas Sowell.

In a similar way, I guess you could say the prime pillars of my conservative or high tory beliefs came from Enoch Powell and Peter Hitchens. Their writings were different from the Austrians (above) in that it taught me the importance of institutions in society and the effectiveness of a robust but small state to act as a guardian for society. Or the 'watchman' state. From those you obviously go on to read/watch Douglas Murray, Walter Bagehot and Earl Benjamin Disraeli.

That's pretty much the underpinnings to my philosophy on life and the world.

I don't really see things like influences/idols like most people seem to? It's probably strange to say. Most of the determination and stuff I have is to prove people wrong or for my own sake, and I don't really like, follow a path people set or want to be like anyone.

There are a few people, some university tutors and things who have inspired me to do one certain thing or something but not really influence or impact my life as a whole... does that make any sense?
