    Default New Forum Default Skin

As we may notice during the last couple months/weeks that social media has been a dramatic change in their theme color/ logos.

Reasons I believe: The new target enjoys anything bright and simple which brings the attention of the user.

How does this imply to habbox? Now look at our default logo/ forum background/ theme color. I thought it looked very 2010 while others say 2005. We need to bring pastel/ombre/light colors to our forum to bring the attention of new user.

I also noticed we have many buttons on our forum. Some don't work/ very confusing to a user. (When I first joined Habbox and was forced to used the forum for HxHD I hated how difficult it is to understand how this works. I still struggle to even pay attention for very long as I feel intimidated to use it. Not until we had an app for it I will use the forum.

Difference from computer and PC: The App is very simple to navigate and gives clear picture how to do things vs. the website there are many obstacles you will need to do to make certain things work like sending a private message or having icons you believe work for one feature not work after all for the task you desired to complete.

Personally I think the default skin should always match the site so there's a consistent theme or branding applied to the fansite - as we were talking about before!

It's always good to have alternatives though and while we do have a lot of different skins, we don't have a lot of great ones! There was actually a pastel skin in development but it wasn't completed before the developer left Habbox which was a real shame because it's a gorgeous skin. I would love someone to finish it!

We do use Taptalk and I think quite a lot of our users do use it, I see it in a lot of posts and things!

When you mention icons and things what do you mean? The actual WYSIWYG text editor is fairly standard for vBulletin forums, with a few extra additions you don't really NEED but might WANT to use. Other icons I don't really know what you mean!

I think maybe having a simple how to use the forum guide might be a good idea to include in the initial welcome PM, that should make it easier, but I'd like to know what you mean by icons so we can make sure we cover everything! @Samanfa;, @Empired; what do you think, to encourage new users to stick around?

Only instagram changed didn't it, not a dramatic change?

if you want bright colours lets go with this

There's like 10 skins for different colours, people can pick different ones if they don't like the default theme.

What do you mean 'many buttons' this is a pretty standard forum software so I don't get the difficulty, XenForo, IPB etc will be the same as will other forums.

Get tapatalk to use the forum if you want an app?

Which buttons are these? I can't see any that are broken

As someone who never ever reads the welcome PMs when I sign up to a new forum I don't know if it would benefit users or not lol It really depends what it would involve though - it could either be really good or absolute rubbish depending on what is involved in the guide.

events button is broken on site skin 2011 (the default skin she must be on about), and most others take an age to load

Warning: file_get_contents(https://habbox.com/pages/events.php?&externalcss=<snip>): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found in/home/habboxforum/public_html/David/tunnel/dailyevents.php on line 6

but that whole side bar is an absolute mess it should just be removed

there's also still a habbox live link in the nav bars which should be removed

there's FAQ sections for how to use the forum

    https://www.habboxforum.com/faq.php?faq=var_support
    https://www.habboxforum.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_faq
    https://www.habboxforum.com/faq.php?faq=vb_faq

set a forum notice for users with less than X posts linking to those specific sections and explain that if they still need help, post a thread in the questions about habbox forum

I know there are FAQs but they're not particularly user friendly or easy to find! I'm just trying to think of ways to get our signing up users to actually want to post! We get a huge amount of sign-ups that then don't take it any further than that.
@Empired; I see what you mean but if it's a nice PM (I've already rewritten the text to be more friendly), maybe with some images & formatting to make it interesting then at least we'd have more of a chance there? That's what I'm thinking anyway!

I don't see how it can harm anything. Not like it's exactly gonna deter users so the worst that can happen is that it has no impact at all.

It used to be, now it doesn't really have a brand colour if we go by V7.

I agree though, we do need a handful of new skins to replace the tired looking ones. I think the primary focus should be on finishing the matching V7 skin and then perhaps seeing what sort of themes users would like.
