Default What's the WORST (genuine) advice you've ever heard?

Not talking about obvious silliness like when I tell people to shout at their internet when it's not working, but GENUINE advice that's supposed to help people. I'm sure everyone's heard something where they've just thought "well that's nonsense" whether it's just daft (usually to do with superstition prob) or actually dangerous to people (Atkins diet comes to mind) so post them here and we'll all giggle at dumb people *+*+*+

I'll kick it off with one of the worst things that teachers were made to tell kids when I was younger, not sure if they still do but:
"if you're being bullied, stop, look them in the eye, and say 'NO'."

"everyone deserves a second chance" isn't always good advice

    especially when its followed by

me: "he's a woman beating peado who has tried to suffocate me.."
her: "oh me and ____ were the same but we are good now"

??????? she genuinely thought that was acceptable advice.

also when people say all lives are equal etc @Empired; you said something like that) I just think about how actually no my life is much more valuable than his.

When people say it'll be over soon. Well that doesn't help.

Things mentioned above are more relevant. But,

Time heals all wounds. If only it were that easy.

when i was 15 i went to llandudno with a friend and we got lost while trying to find the bus station so we went into a shop to ask for directions. after the man gave us the directions, as we were heading out, he shouts to us "here's some advice for you in case you get lost again - a good turn is a good turn" and i still have no idea tbh
