Default Childhood Habits - Ends 1st August

When you were a kid I assume you were taught the usual traits by your parents like good manners and general life skills. But did you ever get taught something a little odd that's followed you into adulthood? If you don't get what I mean I'll give you an example:

As children my brother and I were taught that when we went out to dinner somewhere we'd get one drink for the entire meal, and if you guzzled it you'd be on water. So naturally, I learned to make one drink last an entire meal and even now at 24, I still do this. I told my boyfriend this and he thought it was kind of weird. For the record my parents weren't stingy, my brother was just a guzzler.

So my question to you is, whether you were taught to do something as a child that may be a bit weird to others but was the norm in your family and have continued the habit into adulthood?

    Post below, especially the funniest!

From young, I was taught whenever I want to donate, give something that I love. Not the excess or extras. Well, it's not that kind of weird thing but I guess, it just sticks to me. To always give what I love.

I was Always Getting Yelled At when I was younger and going out for dinner. aswell as with @Sloths; i too was brought up only having one drink at dinner time, even if there were free refills on things like soda. don't worry it doesn't sound crazy at all, but now as a adult and living on my own.. I DO WHAT I WANT! lol
i buy Nesquick Cereal and lay around in my pj's all day,, until work obviously lol

but when i was younger and out for dinner with my parents and little brothers, we used to get in trouble for blowing milk bubbles in our chocolate milk (i'm sure it was more so of a embarrassment thing or annoyance issue back then) but im a grown damn man now! im do what i want! lol even though i get those looks like something might be wrong with him, and that's even before i choke on those bubbles i'm making..

    just don't grow up...

mine was not related to food but when it came to smokers we were taught to hold our breath, face the other way and get out of the area.
I have continued that to adulthood I see a smoker I hold my breath face the other way and then once im past them I make the hand gesture (the gesture is used if ur shooing away a fly out of ur face) to get rid of any remaining smell.

Mine was actually similar to Cadigyna, except it's basically the complete opposite When I was younger, my parents would always tell me not to get into the habit of smoking because it's a really bad habit to get into. And my dad, being the comedic person he is, told me when I was really young that if someone was smoking close by you and the smoke was getting in your face, just start coughing so they'll know it's bothering you. And, of course, little girl me thought that was hilarious because it was something that my dad came up with. But, now that I'm older, I'm still disgusting with the smell of smoke so I will nonchalantly start coughing quietly if someone is smoking next to me. I know it's kind of rude, but hey, so is them blowing their nasty smoke in my face! (sick)
