Parliament is opened with a Queen's Speech announcing the governments programme for the coming year

"My government's priority is to deliver the UK's departure from the EU on 31 January."

The #QueensSpeech begins with #Brexit, saying ministers will bring forward legislation to deliver the UK's exit by the end of January.

This is the second Queen's Speech this year, within 9 weeks actually, as the last Parliament was dissolved.

You'll notice the Queen and Prince Charles aren't wearing state robes and didn't arrive via cavalry and carriages, that is because it's a dressed down version given it was at short notice with the General Election being called. That said, nice to see the new House of Commons Speaker back in the state robes of his office which Bercow refused to wear.


Great to see the FTPA being binned asap. Another Cameron/Clegg legacy flushed away.
