UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) expected by October 2022

Talks between London and New Delhi have gone so well that a full FTA is now expected within months

UK Trade Negotiations Status:

🇮🇳 India

☑️ 1st Round: 17 - 28 Jan
☑️ 2nd Round: 7 - 18 Mar
☑️ 3rd Round: 25 Apr - 6 May
🗓️ 4th Round: 13 - 24 Jun

Target completion: October 2022

For the deal to be finalised by October, it will need to be close to agreed by Round 5.#UKTrade

India is notoriously hard to conclude FTAs with due to its protectionist nature, so this is a really good sign.

For reference, India does not have an FTA with the European Union so this is a FTA built from scratch rather than a rollover agreement.

A minister on the Indian side has stated she expects the UK-India FTA to be completed ahead of schedule in August.
