    Default Child Abuse

Hey guys, now as you may or may not know, there are many different types of abuse that a child could be given. It could be verbal abuse, sexual abuse, they might even be getting neglected. In this thread I am going to give you a few facts about this:

    • NSPCC research shows that a significant minority of children suffer serious abuse or neglect:
    • 7% of children experienced serious physical abuse at the hands of their parents or carers during childhood.
    • 1% of children experienced sexual abuse by a parent or carer and another 3% by another relative during childhood. 11% of children experienced sexual abuse by people known but unrelated to them. 5% of children experienced sexual abuse by an adult stranger or someone they had just met.
    • 6% of children experienced serious absence of care at home during childhood.
    • 6% of children experienced frequent and severe emotional maltreatment during childhood.
Many children get abused for doing absolutely nothing, most children say nothing because they think what their abusers are doing is right. They're not old enough to know the differences between right and wrong.

Now you may have seen this advert on the television or the Radio but I am going to give you the link to it at the end of this Thread. I want you to think seriously about what is happening to children all across the UK, and the rest of the world. We can help this suffering stop. Just either donate or go down to your local supermarket and pick up one of these green bands which says "FULL STOP." We need to help these children speak out before it is too late.

Meh... spanking a kid is considered child abuse now adays. As long as you don't go overboard with it then I don't consider it that.

My step dad used to kick the **** out of me until I turned 17 and got kicked out of the house. He'd throw me down the stairs and pull me back up them by my hair which is why I grew it out in the first place to make it easier for him cause **** him. I'd get kicked a lot or thrown into walls.

We get along now though after I started working in the same factory with him two years ago.

All of that just made me stronger although it did do a huge damage to my self-esteem and self-worth which is something we're still trying to rebuild.

Its maily because of the parents being in the same situation when they were young, a kid.
The majority of parents who beat there kids up is because they were also abused when they were a kid so it spirals and sort of follows in a generation depending on how strong the person is to know what the 'right & wrong' is.

Why swear and i'm totally against smacking children as one day maybe they will tread their children like that. And i think all smacking should be deemed illegal.

The kid's gotta learn some discipline

I don't care how you discipline your children just as long as you do. Some people take it too far yes, but other's don't take it far enough. I'm tired of seeing 14 year old kids thinking they're better than everyone else and disrespecting their parents.

I hate that but i know this will sound stupid but it's always chavs that are doing stuff like bombing cars or robbing old ladies.

    huh?

Simply put... if you let your children do what they want all of their life they won't look to you to see what is wrong and what is right. And then when they get into society they'll think their own rules still apply and not care what the effects their actions will play on other people's lives. You can usually tell if a person was disciplined in their life just by knowing them for a bit.

Spanking (mind you not beating) is a useful way to show the child that they were in the wrong. There are alternatives but in the past 10 years these alternatives have proved to be less successfull when seeing the kids today. Movie's like "Thirteen" just really make me hate kids today... meh, I'm sounding like an old grandpa. You kids turn your music down!!!
