clear cache and get the latest update... who knows, notch might have fixed some of the multiplayer problems.

Also, after you update your client you need to refresh the webpage once more before being able to login to the server, otherwise it will time out each try.

GOOD NEWS! Your inventory should now save server side, furnaces should now work and so should chests to save lots of items in!

ok, the update seems to have made the server unstable, sure this will get fixed though and i'll look into seeing if theres anything I can do about it. (connection to player drops immediately after login)

yes, I think it's the serverside update. These things are to be expected in alpha and i'm sure notch will send a fix in a short period.

The Seecret Friday part ended up being extremely tiny this time around, but that’s because I made sure to add this:
+ Added server-side inventory
+ Made the server save player locations when they leave the server
+ Made chests work in SMP
+ Made signs work in SMP
+ Made furnaces work in SMP
+ Added monsters=false to server.properties. You can turn it on for experimental monsters, but you can’t hurt them directly yet. (Fire works, though!)
But this is NOT SECURE YET! I decided to just focus on making it functional first so I actually got it out.
I’ll work on inventory security and server-side health management next week. Server-side health means you’ll be able to fight monsters and perhaps even other players. :D

Oh. My. Dog. I need to invest in a better server solution RIGHT AWAY, like next week! Please be patient while the server tries to keep up with sending out all the updated clients!

Yeah. I was really disappointed with the update. It was more just "fixes" for broken SMP stuff. I'd rather content and new features for Friday update and then have fixes another time in one big hit.

Started work on an above-ground mass map network bridge.

Feel free to carry on with it (it's on Stuto's server), and lead sections of it to anywhere you wish, just simple rules...

Always keep the same design and bricks as there is now
Don't destory current parts of the bridge
NEVER end the bridge (you can always split parts off into other directions, like a crossroads, but never just end it somewhere, it's supposed to lead to everywhere eventually!)

I suggest so watching X's adentures on youtube. He isn't very creative but explored most of the time. Even in the later episodes, he had two bases including the X-System... and death mountain.

I’ll add crouching, which will prevent you from walking over an edge, to make up for the late release. :D
I had an interesting idea on how to teach people the crafting in Minecraft. The first thing that’s needed in any case is something that tells the player to press “I” to access the inventory. Once that is up, there could be a small “recipy” icon in the upper right corner. Pressing that opens up a tech tree with everything except wood planks grayed out into mysterious question marks. Hovering the wood planks shows the recipy (tree trunk -> wood planks!), and if the player completes that recipy he unlocks the next recipes in the tech tree thing. The recipes link into each other in somewhat logical ways, and can be non-crafting things like showing that a better pickaxe is requires to get ore, or that ore in a furnace produces ingots.
Note that you don’t actually HAVE to unlock anything in the tech tree to be able to craft those things, it’s just meant as a way to show people what can be made, and add some kind of exploration to it.
Once we have achievements, one of them can be for completing the entire crafting tech tree. :D

Yes, there are zombies but they just stand there. SMP is really empty in terms of monsters and fighting them.

Server's down UNFORTUNATELY. MUST BEAT CECER.

Multiplayer with Alpha is basically the same as Creative Multiplayer. However, try and be creative in Singleplayer and from nothing. Now, that's addicting.

You punch a tree, you get wood. You then put wood into crafting box, you get 4 (DUNNO WHAT THEY BE CALLED) which is also wood. Then, you split these up into 4 sticks.

I've temporarily closed off the original waterslide (not my recent one), due to diversion.

I'm basically creating something new, and it goes through that space, so i'm going to finish building this new thing, and then fix and divert the original waterslide, to suit everyone, but it will take a couple of days.

Was discussing the option of hosting it on a VPS for 24/7 uptime with Cecer1. But we came to the decision that it was too costly due to it needing a minimum of 1gb of RAM to run.
